Beaver Dam Gold Mine

GHD 2014-Ongoing

About the Project

GHD, an engineering firm, retained McCallum Environmental Ltd. to complete biophysical surveys and analyses of impacts for Valued Components (VCs). The information gathered will be submitted within a GHD federal Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) submission for a proposed gold mine in eastern Nova Scotia. We’re now working with GHD and Atlantic Gold Corporation to prepare the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for submission to CEAA in late 2016.

Responsibilities

From 2014 to 2016, McCallum Environmental Ltd. completed baseline surveys across an identified study area of more than 400 hectares, including:

  • habitat
  • species at risk
  • lichens
  • rare plants
  • watercourses
  • fish and fish habitat
  • wetlands
  • birds, including migratory, breeding bird, and targeted surveys
  • mainland moose
  • winter wildlife

We’re now working with GHD and Atlantic Gold Corporation to prepare the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for submission to CEAA in late summer 2016.
