McCallum Environmental is currently implementing a wetland restoration Project located on agricultural land in Middle Stewiacke, NS. The objectives of this Project are to restore a degraded wetland (which has been historically used for agricultural purposes), back to shallow marsh wetland, interspersed with open water. This will increase water retention on the landscape and enhance habitat for waterbirds. The approximate size of the restoration project is 17 hectares.
The McCallum Environmental Wetland Restoration Team provided our client support relating to the implementation of suitable wetland soils, and wetland vegetation establishment within the engineered wetland. This included species composition and seeding, and management of hydrological conditions suitable for successful plant growth within the wetland.
